Lessons Learned

Knowledge based on experience....

View Point

You don’t have to convince me.

I don’t have to convince you.

Deep within our hearts,

We know what is true.

We don’t have to solve all life’s problems.

We don’t have to always agree.

Defining “conviction” and “principles”

Are a gift of being free.

Why would we argue?

Why would we fight?

I want to stay friends

For the rest of our lives.

Sometimes we might want to sit

And be still for a while.

Compassion and patience

Must come back in style.

You have your opinion,

And that’s totally okay.

What’s the use in arguing?

Neither one of us will sway.

You are you.

I am me.

Let’s just love one another.

Let the other one be.

Let’s remember

What we don’t get to do.

You cannot manipulate me,

And I cannot manipulate you.

I’m a friend.

I’m not your enemy.

Judging is a sickness.

Grace is the remedy.

Our truth is our truth.

Our lies are our lies.

We see life differently

From an individual set of eyes.

There are times it is best

To simply stop and pray.

To take the time to examine:

“What am I really trying to say?”

Someday, we will learn to speak

By listening first.

Until that day comes,

Our opinion remains

Relationship’s curse.

“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.” 1 Corinthians 12:4-6
