I beg your pardon...
“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” Philippians 4:4
It’s funny how things pop into our minds. My husband, for example, will be sitting around or driving down the street and he suddenly starts singing a song. Sometimes, it makes sense because it stems from our conversation. Other times, like the Deer Escort theme song, it makes absolutely no sense. It’s fun just the same. (In case you don’t know, or you have forgotten, the song starts out, “We are the Deer Escorts….”)
It happened to me this morning. For no explainable reason, the words to, “I Didn’t Promise You a Rose Garden,” invaded my space during my shower. I took the time to post some of the words on Facebook because they were so random; yet, so powerful.
“I beg your pardon. I never promised you a rose garden. Along with the sunshine, there’s gotta be a little rain sometimes.” As I sang the words, I laughed. They could almost come from Jesus’ lips to my ears! “Roni, I beg your pardon. I never promised you a rose garden, girl! Along with My Sunshine, there is going to be a little rain sometimes.”
The song was a refresher course in gratitude, Christian joy, and happiness. Oh, I know it wasn’t written with Christ in mind, but I’m funny like that – I seek and find Him in everything. Someday, I’ll learn to seek and find Him in everyone. Wouldn’t that be a happy place to live? In the unity and harmony that love provides. Well, it’s supposed to…. I suspect we’d find it if we sought it with all our hearts.
I don’t have a link to the Deer Escort theme song. Sorry. I do, however, have the link to the song that is now stuck in my head. Click here…
