“If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.” John 15:10
How do I want to live? Do I want to love others or debate everyone? I get to decide.
How do I choose to view others? Are some my enemies or are all my Father’s creation? I get to decide.
What about when I am hurt or, worse yet, betrayed? How do I react? What do I think? Why would I possibly offer anyone a second chance after they hurt me once already? I get to decide.
Friends or enemies? Argue or listen? Judge or accept? Reject or embrace? Forgive and forget? I get to decide.
There is not a human being on earth that hasn’t been confronted for differences. Everyone experiences differences of opinions or views. Some will love us. Some may dislike us. People will hurt us. We will be betrayed. While we have absolutely no control over how we are treated, we get to decide how to react. We are the masters of our reactions.
Well, unless and until we are ready to yield to God and see others as He sees them. That’s just what Jesus did. He chose to humble Himself, submit, serve, listen, accept, love, forgive, forget, and to live life within God’s will. He decided.
