“Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.” Leviticus 19:18
This bible verse is a command; not a request. Forgiveness and reconciliation are at the heart of Christianity and spiritual salvation. We offend God. God forgives us. Others offend us. We forgive others. Well, that’s how it is suppose to work.
It’s a pattern that seems to be lost in translation. Do not seek revenge. Period. Do not bear a grudge among fellow believers. Period. Love your neighbor as yourself. (God says that a lot throughout the Bible. Probably because He knew that would be a tough one for us.)
Love the unlovable. Forgive the unforgivable. Period.
Why? Because God said so. Sometimes He makes suggestions. Sometimes He issues commands. Period.
Finally, He is THE Lord. Period. Exclamation mark! End of sentence.
