Psalm Ye

“He says, Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10

Well, Kim and Kanye have another child. His name is Psalm Ye. No... not “yee.” Ye as in “yay” as in “ConYay,” after his dad. What I am about to say may sound judgmental. Please stick with me until the end. Then you can judge whether I am judging. <wink>

I’m wondering if we realize we can know the Bible, use the Bible, quote the Bible, and read the Bible while being in the dark about spiritual health? We can even name our kids Bible names. Doesn’t make us a Christian; even more, doesn’t make them a Christian.

Rumor has it that Kim and Kanye are diving into church with Kanye leading Sunday service worship music. I sincerely hope their search is legitimate and real. After all, Kim’s dad Robert Kardashian was a devout Catholic. His children were brought up in faith, as many kids are, but the Kardashian kids (and mom) seemed to be bitten by the celebrity bug resulting in lots of marriages. And, plastic surgery. The good news is God looks at the heart; not the other body parts regardless of whether they are real or fake. He does examine our heart and whether our spirituality is real or fake.

Kim and Kanye’s future behavior will be shaped by their current search. Perhaps she is concerned about prison reform? Perhaps he is interested in politics? You know what, just like the rest of us, time will tell. The good thing going for Kim is that her dad provided her with deep roots. The rest is up to her. Well, her and God.

You’ve heard, “Actions speak louder than words?” Jesus said our fruit reveals our heart. Outward behavior is a sign of an inward Savior. Or not.  Our past can be erased by present choices and future behavior. Thank God for second, and third, and fourth, and 300th chances. I know I need all the help I can get.

How about you? If we are still doing what we want, how we want, when we want and why we want, we might want to stop a minute and ask God what He wants.

Hear ye, hear ye! God is Sovereign. Whether or not He is in control still remains up to the individual. (Oh, by the way – that is ye as in “yee.”) <wink>
