Another Year - More Opportunities
“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.” Acts 20:24
I turned 61 today. To some of you, that’s old! To others, it seems young. Regardless, it is what it is. I am another year older. (My supportive husband says I am Sweet 16 turned backwards!)
What have I learned this year?
Those who were once enemies can be friends when the communication is open and loving. Those who were once friends may seem like enemies for one reason or another. When we are older, we learn to let God handle it.
Death is always right around the corner. Whether it is someone we love or ourselves, our days are numbered. God knows the number. We can rush it by acting foolishly or we can trust Him by making every day the best it can be until He declares, “Times up. Come on home, My child!”
The only thing that matters is our spiritual destiny. If we know and love Christ Jesus as Lord, the hard times are more bearable, and the great times are all for His glory!
Immaturity shortens our patience, blurs our vision and promotes selfishness. When we mature in the Lord, we realize it really is all about Him. We are along for the ride to do the best we can do to honor Him.
May the Lord of peace and salvation fill our hearts and better our life’s experience with each passing year. Amen.
