Let God Do It
“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2
Ahhhhh...it’s so refreshing to realize we don’t have to be the morality police for the world! A tremendous burden is removed from our shoulders when we, as Christians, trust God to do it! When we realize our form of righteousness falls short and that there is only One Savior. (Psssttt: it’s not us.)
Jesus is the author and perfecter of our faith. Everybody’s faith. While we may have the spiritual gift of teaching or preaching, there isn’t a spiritual gift called, “Enforcer.” That’s the role of the Holy Spirit. He spots sin. He convicts the sinner. He promotes change. Transformation is Spirit-driven, not produced by an arrogant or preachy attitude.
Oops and Ouch.
When I am tempted to think that I am somehow better or higher than others, I remember Who is at the top of our spiritual chain. It isn’t me. Guess what? It isn’t you either. When we truly understand God’s glory, we are humbled; not hateful.
