Growing up is a requirement...

Growing up is not optional. Or is it? Growing old is optional. We are as young as we feel, and we feel as young as we act. I’m not talking about age. I’m talking about attitude.

More and more, I feel I am living in a permanent state of immaturity. Our leaders are failing us. Our refusal to see truth and insistence on taking sides is killing us. Emotion carries us away instead of common sense and wisdom guiding us. For about two years, I’ve referred to our current state of affairs as “junior high-ish.” I think we are digressing. I feel like our country is in day care and we need to send a few people to the time out chair.

Seriously, where is maturity? Where is wisdom? Where is the expertise we voted for and rallied around over the past few years? What happened to our country? American lives are suffering. This isn’t funny and it certainly isn’t productive.

We cannot move backwards. However, I strongly encourage every Christian reading this to make a vow to God. During any election in the future, let sensibility be your guide. Our angry spirits simply contributed to more anger and more chaos. Our unconfessed hatred for Hillary Clinton blinded us. (Openly proclaimed by some.) If you are a Christian reading this, it is time to come clean before God. We dropped the ball. We rebelled and called it inspiration.

Wise up. In order to do so, we must understand what Godly wisdom looks like.

“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” James 3:17
