HYPE: Takes One to Know One
Life is interesting to say the least. Here are a few of my recent observations:
Why is it that viewers of one news network try to make us believe their news outlet is the only one telling the truth? Have you ever watched the news just to observe human behavior? It is all hype and it really doesn’t matter which channel you choose. All national news is tainted. Every national news station favors one side over the other and their reports reflect it. If each of us were really honest, we’d admit we only watch the side saying what we want to hear. If we would step back long enough and stop watching, we’d understand we are all being brainwashed. We are allowing one side to fill our minds and mold our worldview. It has nothing to do with truth. It has everything to do with opinion.
It’s disgusting. Tell us the news. We really don’t need your opinion. (And, by the way, stop yelling.)
The female spokesperson from the NRA is another example. She stands before a gathering of some of the 5 million NRA members and says something along the lines that the news media loves mass shootings. According to this rocket scientist, “Crying white mothers are ratings gold.” (I guess crying mothers of color have no value to her.) What planet did this woman come from? She wants to accuse the news media of stretching the truth and rallying the forces of paranoia? Sure, lady. That’s it. The news media is the only group that rallies the forces and feeds hysteria to those watching and listening. Yea, that’s it.
What’s disgusting is 5 million NRA members buy into the hype and hug their guns even closer to their chest after mass shootings. Gun sales sky rocket. All the while they fly an American flag to prove their patriotism. And, we think the news media is the only ones with a problem?
There is very little truth being shared in our nation today. We take sides, listen to what we want to hear, seek ways to disprove those who disagree with us, and pat ourselves on the back for being fair and balanced. All the while, Jesus whispers, “Remember Me, Christian? I’m your mission. Or am I?”
