Because He Lives

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone. Because I know who holds the future, my life is worth the living just because He lives.

There are times that contemporary Christian music doesn't offer what I need. While I love it, and listen to it in my car and at home, there are times I need a hymn. When I feel life creeping in and I need something dependable to settle my spirit, I sing a hymn.

Christ is my anchor. However, there are times my soul is shaky. I find myself needing a quick reminder that He is here, He loves me, and He never lets me go. My faithful “go-to?” A good, old-fashioned hymn.

Isn't life interesting right now? It seems the weather has turned against human life. It seems human life has turned against other human life. It seems the best place to be right now is with Jesus. I can find Him anywhere, anytime of day, in any place I choose to meet Him.

I can meet Him through prayer, reading Scripture, purposeful seclusion, or through singing. Something Satan really hates is our praise to God. Satan must skedaddle when God's children are focusing attention on God alone. There is no room for Satan when God's Spirit fills up the crevices of our thoughts.

So, please excuse me while I go finish the rest of the song. My dog, Hope, loves my singing. Hope agrees our life is worth the living just because He lives.

“When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord; he brought me into a spacious place. The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Psalm 118:5-6
