Good News/Bad News
We support what President Trump did regarding Jerusalem not only being identified, but occupied as the capital of Israel. We support it regardless of what the rest of the world thinks of us (believing and non-believing) because our Sunday School teacher told us it was the right thing to do when we were six years old.
More recently, we support it if our pastor went to a seminary that taught him to support it and insisted he preach his support as a way to belong in a holy, righteous club.
We really don’t know what the bible says. That doesn’t matter. We support it because we went to a bible study that used a book written and published by a certain denomination that we can identify with and we learned to support it. In fact, we must support it. No questions asked.
We don’t care if the inhabitants of today’s Jerusalem reflect the same inhabitants of God’s biblical city or not. It doesn't matter. We don’t care that Christians are referred to as God’s people once Christ entered the picture. We simply don’t care. Our first grade Sunday School teacher, our pastor, our denominational seminaries, and our preferred bible study material insist that we support it, so we do.
We don’t really care what the rest of the world thinks, even those who profess Christ as Savior and King. We don’t care, because we are right and they are wrong. We know we are right because God put Donald Trump in the White House. It had nothing to do with our hatred of Hillary Clinton or our laziness in not voting for the best choice in the primaries. God put Donald Trump in the White House because he knows God. He says his name. Often. Jesus Christ comes out of his mouth. Often. We are sure he is praying.
He doesn’t read scripture, can’t recite it accurately, but he can read it off a teleprompter (if he stays focused long enough) once Mike Pence verifies the scripture is in the bible and the correct address has been listed. Well, if the scripture is quoted from the right translation. Our favored translation.
We don’t really care what happens to the Christians in Israel, because they must know they have to side with us because all true Christians know we are on the right side. Our first grade Sunday School teacher told us so.
We don’t really care if all hell breaks loose. Secretly, we want war. Jesus won’t return unless that really bad war happens, so we totally support anyone who is willing to bully their way around to make things happen quickly. (Hurry up, God!)
We believe that is why God put Trump in the White House. God needed help being God. God cannot possibly accomplish His mission and fulfill His word without the help of Donald J. Trump and our approval.
It doesn’t really matter that we are repeating the same mistakes of the religious right in Christ’s day. They read the bible. They knew what the prophets said; yet, they were clueless when it came to the fulfillment of prophecy. It didn’t come to fruition in the manner they understood, with the political power they preferred, and through the ways and means of their well-defined traditions. Jesus was really a nuisance when He stepped out of their box. How dare He do it His way! He didn’t follow their plan.
Donald J. Trump, one of the vilest men in history, is our political savior. We are on the right side only if we support him and we don’t say bad things about him. We can trash talk anyone else we want to, but to question Donald J. Trump is un-American. And, apparently, unchristian. No one else can question our motives because we are right. The good news is no longer the news of a good Jesus. The good news is the good news that Donald Trump is here to save us! Yippee!
Here’s the bad news: Isn’t it a bit ironic if everything above is right, many of God’s children most likely voted for and continue to support the prophesied anti-Christ?
Don't worry. God, not Nikki Haley, is taking names. He knows who is on His truly righteous side.
“Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.” Revelation 21:27
