That's what I call a "mic drop moment!"
Some of the teachers of the law responded, “Well said, teacher!” And no one dared to ask him any more questions. Luke 20:39-40
It is a well-known fact that the religious community of Jesus' day not only struggled with Him, but resented Him as well. Jesus confronted theological and societal inaccuracies. Most of us don't like to have our belief system or our behavior challenged. Most of us don't like change - even if the change is for the better.
I admire Jesus so much. He is the One True Messiah, but as a human being He always had the right response at the right time. The religious people of His day would look for ways to trick Him and trap Him.
The verse above is reflective of a time that their efforts to discredit Him failed. While He was despised and rejected by many, He was never fooled by any. Jealousy and hatred took Him all the way to the cross. How did He respond?
"Father, forgive them. They don't know what they are doing."
I want to be just like Jesus when I grow up.
