The “sane center” is a term that refers to those willing to move around party lines by forming a coalition for the good of all people. While many Christians still feed on the Old Testament “separation” mentality, the New Testament teaches that love and grace are freely offered to all. Grace eliminates a division in gender, race, nationality, or religious practices. Jesus Christ’s grace is available to everyone.
Because of Christ’s sacrifice, God through Jesus and Jesus to man formed a spiritual coalition. Of course, we must be willing to join and cooperate within the coalition to feel its full effect. “Cooperate” being the imperative word.
The recent headlines and inquiries about the involvement of Russia in our national elections is interesting to me. I am going to speak from the “sane center.” (I know…some of you just passed out.)
What if the interaction with Russia is merely strategic? What if there were efforts made after President Obama’s last interaction with Russia, which ended on negative terms? What if the next administration (ok, I’ll say it…), the Trump administration, put the wheels into motion to form a coalition between the two most powerful nations on earth as a way to regroup and calm world tensions?
Many of you are saying, “Well, if that’s it, why don’t they just tell us?!” Some of you are saying, “Don’t know. Don’t care. Quit talking about it.” Others of us are saying, “You know, partnering with Russia worked in the past to shut down the Nazi regime, so what if?” I would suspect that a coalition doesn’t need to be announced publicly until all i’s are dotted and all t’s are crossed. A strategic coalition will not be successful if we are telling the entire world what’s going on behind the scenes.
“Behind the scenes….” I like that phrase. God always works behind the scenes. I like to pretend that I know just what He is doing all of the time. In fact, I want to tell Him how to do it. Humans seem to struggle with choosing to trust what goes on “behind the scenes.” Whether it is the current administration or past administrations, both sides work against the middle. We are so quick to think the worst instead of allowing all the details to come out in the right way at the right time for the right reasons.
So, is it the Liberal media’s fault? I don’t think so. The Bible tells us there is lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life. I think we can definitely categorize the human tendency to be a know-it-all with “the pride of life.” Otherwise, the media wouldn’t irritate us because we would use our brains to sort information and our hands to turn off the television.
Pride doesn’t work in forming human coalitions and it will not work in our coalition with Christ. Move to the sane center. In spiritual form, the sane center knows God by following Christ and encouraging others to do the same.
“For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father, but is of the world.” 1 John 2:16
