Happy International Polar Bear Day!
Today is “Polar Bear Day.” Some of us could care less that today is International Polar Bear Day but there are other individuals and groups who care very much. Most especially the animal rights activists and environmentalists who are very concerned that the polar bear’s habitat is diminishing and the bear itself is at-risk of becoming extinct.
Why should we care? Does it really matter?
Well, that depends on how important God felt the polar bear was to His beautiful creation and how much we care about God’s creation. I suspect it matters very much to mama polar bears.
Someone voiced to me the other day that Facebook was getting entirely too political and volatile. Yea, I know. We need more dog pictures and recipes. My life simply cannot get enough dog pictures and new recipes. Regardless of the fact that I very seldom make the recipes or besides having only one dog – I must see more dog pictures and collect more new recipes!
What’s my point? Be you and allow others to be themselves. That, my friend, is real compassion – the ability to find and voice your own passion while allowing others to feel just as much passion about something totally different. It’s called individualization. Allowing others to be different is another way we honor and respect God’s creation. God has never and will never clone. He creates.
We’re not clones. I am very passionate about not allowing dogs, polar bears, people, and recipes to become clones of one another. How do you spell “individuality?” Y O U.
“And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.” Genesis 1:24-25
