I like fruit...

I like fruit, but sometimes I grow tired of it. Fruit is good for you but it’s not like cake. I like cake more than fruit.

I know I need fruit because it is good for me. Sometimes temptation gets the best of me and I go for the cake. Too often, I might add.

The bible teaches us that we will be known by our fruit. While judging is sinful, discerning is spiritual. It is very important for God’s children to discern, examine carefully, in order to make wise choices. God doesn’t want His children helpless and fooled by every smooth talker that comes along. So, we might need to get off the path towards judgement by jumping on the discernment bandwagon.

What’s the difference? Judging is done in harshness of spirit and often condemns. Discernment is a manner of separating the good from the bad. Judging is hateful. Discernment is necessary and helpful.

Paul taught what the fruits of God’s Spirit can reflect in our lives: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no Law.” Galatians 5:22-23

If we pray to see more fruit growing in our life, we really won’t have time to judge other people, will we?

The people who love me best and love me the most have been helping me to discern between strength of mind and lack of self-control. As I prayed over the past few days asking God to reveal the sin in my life and to teach me how to become more God-controlled and less Roni-controlled, here is what He laid on my heart:

Serve

Everyone.

Love beyond

Friendship.

Christ

Offers

New

Teachings

Regularly through His

Omnipotent

Love.

When I feel out of control and want to lash out, Jesus will teach me how to love with an all-powerful love. Just as He loves me.
