They can definitely dance...!
As I age, I am coming to terms with my creative side. That metamorphosis is what this blog site is all about. Living in Texas, I am not always on the same page as many of those I deeply love. As I age, I realize that in many ways I am just different.
I love the arts! I love poetry, painting, drawing, dance...I love it all! I wish I could back up and concentrate more on these aspects of my being as opposed to being the cheerleader and a member of the drill team. While a drill team may dance, we performed more disciplined routines. Nothing free flowing.
The series “So You Think You Can Dance” continues to be one of my favorites. The producers went out on a limb this year auditioning children from 8-13 years old. This YouTube clip is a sample of what we are seeing from these very gifted children. Each child has a story to tell about being bullied and fighting to remain who they are deep within their souls.
The dance was choreographed by one of my favorite choreographers. The adult mentor is one of my favorite dancers. The message behind the dance tells the story of a man who wakes up one day disillusioned with his life. He sees his “younger self” in the mirror and the child within him speaks. Through dance. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. I hope we all keep drawing, painting, writing, and dancing.
Creative lives matter.
