The Brighter Side of Life

The Brighter Side of Life

The best thing I ever did was walk away from you.

You no longer had the power to keep me weak and blue.

The best thing I ever did was to turn my back and leave;

Releasing myself from you only served to set me free.

The best thing I ever did was learned together we were wrong.

With all your good intentions, you didn’t want me strong.

The best thing I ever did was to vacate the place of strife.

What was the result? I found the brighter side of life.

The best thing I ever did was to stop judging you.

Surprisingly, when I did, you stopped judging me, too.

While I can’t say I continue to call you a friend,

I do believe we’ll wind up together in the end.

The best thing I ever did was to trust God; not you.

The very best things in life result when obedience is true.

The best thing in life I did was to no longer listen to you voice.

Now serving Him isn’t about you – it’s about the freedom in my choice.
