Finding the True Meaning behind Christmas....

Here are the most important words to me, “For God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but will have everlasting life.”

These are pretty important ones, too, “Call on the name of the Lord and you will be saved.”

How about these, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Psalm 23 brings people great comfort throughout their lives and deaths: “Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything that I need. He lets me rest in meadows green and leads me beside the quiet streams. He keeps on giving life to me and helps me to do what honors Him the most. Even when walking through the dark valley of death, I will never be afraid for He is close beside me. Guarding, guiding all the way, He spreads a feast before me. In the presence of my enemies, He welcomes me as His special guest. With blessings overflowing, His goodness and unfailing kindness shall be with me all of my life. And, afterwards? I will live with Him. Forever.  Forever in His home.”

Let me share what I cannot find in the Bible – Merry Christmas. Manmade words for a manmade tradition that has little to nothing to do with the Gospel message. If we are honest, trees and tinsel; elves on the shelf; and snowmen have nothing to do at all with Christ’s birth, life, death, resurrection or His second coming. Might I suggest that we all calm down, drink our coffee out of whichever cup we prefer and stop putting the focus on two words that someone thought up to sell Christmas cards?

Instead, try focusing on the Word – the final Word. “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Merry Christmas never saved anybody. Jesus Christ did and continues to do so when we lift HIM up.
