What gets your attention? Each of us gets to decide. Even if we are diagnosed with a terminal illness, we get to decide if we are going to focus on the illness or focus on prayer.
Most of life’s burdens are due to worry. Jesus taught His followers NOT to worry. He used the example of birds and plant life. They continue on and God in Heaven makes certain they have what they need. Even with pollution, land destruction, storms, flooding, or any other manmade or natural disaster, birds and plants continue.
My daddy used to tell me about the ship channel prior to safe environmental laws. He talked about seeing dead fish, dead crabs, and even dead birds. Once “we” caught on to the fact that killing nature is the first indication that we are killing ourselves, laws were enacted to clean up our act.
I’ll never forget the day my daddy came home and said, “I saw live fish swimming in the ship channel today.”
God made a way.
I have been expelling a great deal of emotional, mental, and spiritual energy over something that a) I cannot control, b) really doesn’t concern me, and c) is God’s problem to handle in the first place.
I trust Him.
So, what’s it going to be? Who or what gets your attention? Close your eyes, take some deep breaths, and center your soul. Guess what? You really do have choices. You get to decide.
