The dishwasher magnet
My middle son’s girlfriend purchased a dishwasher magnet to help me remember when the dishes in the dishwasher are clean and when they are dirty. She laughed at my confusion, so lovingly helped me out with the small gift. My greatest challenge now is to remember to turn the magnet over when the time is right.
Our lives seem to carry their own “clean” and “dirty” magnet.
There are days and circumstances that seem to create an easy environment for Christianity. We willingly show our “clean” side and it feels so good when all seems right with the world. Unfortunately, we cannot live life only showing the clean side of our magnet. Trials build faith. Faith increases endurance. Endurance increases faith and spiritual muscles are built from the dirty side of life’s magnet.
My memory verse today is John 15:3. Jesus said to His disciples, “You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.” Our relationship with Christ cleans up our spiritual act. Our outwardly actions, however, can say something entirely different. Over goes the magnet….
We never lose Jesus once we have Him. When we step into a faith relationship with Him, we are made clean in our spirit. How we act on a day-to-day basis is what makes the magnet flip. He doesn’t stop loving us, but we can be an embarrassment to Him.
