Where is God?

My heart breaks because of Kaiser, the 9-year-old bat boy, who was just doing his job and was hit in the head with a swinging bat. If my heart is broken, can you imagine the heart and mind of the young ball player that was simply warming up unaware that little Kaiser was walking nearby? Oh, my goodness. Where was God when Kaiser hit the dirt after being hit by the swinging bat?

God allowed Kaiser to walk up at the wrong time and allowed Kaiser to die. The same God allows us to experience life and death, make poor or good choices, and to choose to accept or reject Him. "He makes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust." While He doesn’t make the bad go away, He does promise to walk with us through the valley.

That’s the side of God none of us truly or fully understand. Most of us don't want to understand. We either choose to trust Him anyway or reject Him altogether.

Where is God? That’s up to you. He is either with you or He is shut out of your life. You get to choose. If you ask me, “Where is God?” I will confidentially answer pointing to my heart, “He lives right here…in me.”

That's the interesting thing about the actuality of spirituality. We have a choice whether to acknowledge God and God's sovereignty or to deny Him. We can choose to love Him, hate Him, or ignore Him altogether. Our individual choice does not prevent the reality of His existence in the good times or the bad.
